Course Description
Organization development (OD) is a new field emerging in Africa as one of the best approaches in solving societal and organizational problems; behaviour science and system approach. It is an art and science developed from Action Science, Survey Research, Group Dynamics, Socio-Technical Research, National Training Laboratory, Appreciative Inquiry, Team Work, 360% Feedback, Systems Theory, Change Models, etc. The programme is designed to create a sustainable mindset of the trained postgraduate to create opportunities for self-defence after graduation.

Programme Goals
To capacitate student-graduates to acquire highly competent OD (innovators) or skills with analytical capacity to facilitate change in both small and large systems in Africa. To transform people and communities/organisations. To produce self-employed graduates in the unique field of organisation development (OD) professionalism and consultants to create jobs, which contribute to national development.
By the end of the proposed programme, students should be able to:
- Have a better understanding of the history of OD, the current trend, the differences between Organizational Development and management consulting and the application of its ethical behaviours in everyday life as a professional OD consultant.
- Analyse the importance of the OD approach and its contribution to business/organisational success as well as in community development.
- Discern the significance of the Action Research Model and how to apply it for business/organisation growth and sustenance.
- Apply OD Facilitation skills for sustainable change/ transformation and through consultancy services.
- Create their own consultancy firm, legally register it and initiate internal and external OD process consulting services to the world.
Admission Requirements
Eligible applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for admission into the PGD programme:
- A good first degree (1st Class and 2nd class upper or lower in any relevant field) from any recognized tertiary institution or its equivalent.
- A weak first degree (3rd Class or Pass in any relevant field) from any recognized tertiary institution or its equivalent.
- A post graduate diploma in Organization Development (OD) or first degree or its equivalent from any recognized tertiary institution.
- MA/MBA/MSC holders in any relevant field are an advantage.
- Accredited post HND holders with HR Management and with an additional relevant post Diploma(s) in OD (certified OD professional or OD certified consultants’ certificate from any recognized tertiary institution) and at least 5 years in leading organizational change and leadership, will gain direct admission.
- Other Considerations: Since there have been different OD programmes being run in Africa, our PGDODE programme may consider applicants who show evidence of any OD certificate(s)/qualification(s) relevant and will meet the requirement for the study of the PGDOD.
- Foreign Qualifications; All foreign applicants shall be assessed to determine eligibility. Eligible for the PDGOD, all foreign applicants are qualified (see from I to vii) or in doubt, the applicant may be referred to the National Accreditation Board (NAB) for determination of equivalences and eligibility for admission to tertiary institutions in Ghana.
