Course Description
The programme is designed to create a sustainable mindset of the trained postgraduate to create opportunities for self-defence after graduation.
The Master's Programme is designed purposely for those with a first degree and other relevant qualifications seeking to develop their careers in the field of Organisation and Community Development. It is a perfect programme for professionals, entrepreneurs, executives/leaders who want to transform their teams/organizations to high performing status and for those in training and development roles (working with groups within their organizations or communities),
It will serve the personal and organisational development agenda of the academia (institutions that wish to introduce OD to their faculties), leaders in the security sector, the industry, the non-profit sector (NGOs/Religious groups) and young professionals who are planning to improve performance or facilitate change in their units, organizations or communities. Consultants can also take advantage.
The course will provide Target group with a background in OD and introduce them to several OD models to facilitate transformational change, organizational transitional management, staff development issues and to lead successful organizational development interventions that will result in effectiveness, efficiency, high performance, and responsiveness to the needs of the employees and system improvement.
Programme Goals
To capacitate student-graduates to acquire highly competent OD (innovators) or skills with analytical capacity to facilitate change in both small and large systems in Africa. To transform people and communities/organisations. To produce self-employed graduates in the unique field of organisation development (OD) professionalism and consultants to create jobs, which contribute to national development.
By the end of the proposed programme, students should be able to:
- Have a better understanding of the history of OD, the current trend, the differences between Organizational Development and management consulting and the application of its ethical behaviours in everyday life as a professional OD consultant.
- Analyse the importance of the OD approach and its contribution to business/organisational success as well as in community development.
- Discern the significance of the Action Research Model and how to apply it for business/organisation growth and sustenance.
- Apply OD Facilitation skills for sustainable change/ transformation and through consultancy services.
- Create their own consultancy firm, legally register it and initiate internal and external OD process consulting services to the world.
Admission Requirements
Eligible applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for admission into the MODE (MSc) programme:
- A good first degree (1st class and second class upper in any field) from an accredited and recognized tertiary institution in Ghana or equivalent outside the Republic of Ghana.
- A post-graduate diploma in organization development (PGDOD) or equivalent from an accredited and recognized tertiary institution in Ghana or its equivalent outside the Republic of Ghana or a Master of Arts holder in any field is an advantage (OD Education best suits any field).
- Any Accredited post HND especially Management and Humanities programmes.
- Any post Diploma(s) in OD (certified OD professional or OD-certified consultants’ certificate from the recognised tertiary institution) and at least 5 years in leading organizational change and leadership, could be admitted for the postgraduate diploma in OD. The post-professional graduate certificate in OD and post-professional OD practice is strongly required for this window of entry into the PGD/MODE.
- Other Considerations: Since there have been different OD programmes being run in Africa, our MODE programme may consider applicants who show evidence of any OD certificate(s)/qualification(s) relevant and eligible, and will meet the requirement for the study of the MODE. If it is verified and proved to be authentic, such applicants in addition to a written examination, and interview results showing academic capability and competence, will gain admission into the MODE programme.
- Applicants with a Master of Arts (MA) from any accredited and recognized tertiary institution/University in Ghana or outside may apply for direct entry.
- Any weak degree from any recognized tertiary institution/University in Ghana or outside is eligible for the postgraduate diploma in organization development (PGDOD)
- Foreign Qualifications: Eligible for the PDGOD/MODE, all foreign applicants are qualified (see from I to vii) or in doubt, the applicant may be referred to the National Accreditation Board (NAB) for determination of equivalences and eligibility for admission to tertiary institutions in Ghana.
